Racing Update

posted Apr 30, 2013, 7:43 PM by Melton Cycling Club
Despite MCC withdrawing their involvement with Northern Combine - there are still a number of members getting involved in Racing - and from the feedback we're getting, the interest in some recreational members wanting to dip their toe in the water is increasing.

On the 11th of May Sam and Steve Sutton will be competing at their first TRACK meet at DISC (Darebin International Sports Centre).
They'll both be kitted up in the MCC colours and we would love to see as many members there cheering them on!
For those that are interested in having a go at TRACK, DISC run "Come n Try Days" aimed at all ages and abilities.  These clinics allow the individual to experience the thrill of track cycling under the guidance and support of nationally qualified coaches.
Whether it's your desire to learn new skills, try something different or purely just have fun.

Sessions are run by qualified coaches, run for approximately 90 minutes and track bikes are provided by Cycling Victoria.
The next Come n Try Day is May 26th. For more information visit this Cycling Victoria link.

ITT Events
Want to get into racing - but just not too sure if you are ready to race with a bunch of trophy hungry cyclists around you?
Well how about competing in an Individual Time Trial event. An ITT event is an opportunity to race yourself against the clock.
Normally run on a 20km course - cyclists normally head off in 30 second intervals.  These are categorised and in some cases - you are able to compete under your regular Silver CA license. (Depending the event you are entering into). There are also E and F grades which is a 10km option.

For more information or if you're interested in having a go - please let us know either via Email or post on our Facebook page.

Ray, Sam and Steve are looking at competing at the Blackburn Cycling Club - Yarra Blvd ITT Event on 19 May 2013.
