- Looking for a form of exercise that does not impact joints, fosters friendship and is suited to people of all ages?
- Looking for a friendly bunch to ride with, exploring local views before relaxing over a hot beverage discussing the morning’s accomplishments?
With an aim to get more people in Melbourne's West riding on a regular basis, Melton Cycling Club holds Sunday morning coffee and chat rides catering for riders of all ages. These are low intensity rides around the Melton township avoiding busy roads wherever possible. See "Rides" for more information.
Recreation riding covers all non-racing rides. It is strongly recommended that regular riders give serious consideration to joining Melton Cycling Club as the 'Cycling for all' licence provides the same 24/7 insurance cover on the bike as the racing and sport membership categories*. Members are entitled to fully insured and often discounted rates for participation in charity fun rides, training, 'coffee' and grand fondo style rides, skills development and introductory activities. As an official affiliate of Cycling Australia and the International Cycling Union (UCI), you will have access to the resources, guidance and experience required to provide you with all the cycling support and assistance you need.
Melton members enjoy raising money for charities by taking part in many of the participation rides that are on offer such as the Amy's Ride (January), the Macedon MS Ride (May) and Around the Bay in a Day (October). These rides are of varying length and difficulty and would be the next step for a recreational rider seeking new challenges.
*with the exception of racing or timed events; to enter these you will need a day pass
